How to Use the Blu Brain Dosage Calculator

The Blu Brain Dosage Calculator converts between drops, millilitres and milligrams for our 1% solution, and works out how long a bottle lasts at a given daily amount. This article explains what it does and the maths behind it.

What it asks for

• Your body weight, in kg or lb, for weight-based figures.
• Your bottle size — 30 ml or 100 ml.
• Whether you take any medications that interact with methylene blue. If you do, the tool will tell you to speak to a healthcare professional before going further.

What it gives you

• The equivalent in drops, millilitres and milligrams.
• How many days a bottle lasts at that daily amount.
• The cost per day.

The maths, if you'd rather do it yourself

A 1% w/v solution contains 10 mg of methylthioninium chloride per millilitre. Our dropper dispenses roughly 0.05 ml per drop, so:

• 1 drop ≈ 0.05 ml ≈ 0.5 mg
• 10 drops ≈ 0.5 ml ≈ 5 mg
• 20 drops = 1 ml = 10 mg

A 30 ml bottle holds about 600 drops; a 100 ml bottle about 2,000. Drop size varies slightly with technique and temperature, so treat these as close estimates rather than exact figures.
